OAK pueden ser muy pronto una de las bandas punterai en el panorama progresivo mundial, y teniendo en cruenta su increible competencia, èso es decir mucho………

How comes your deep passion for Jethro Tull ?
Well, I think everybody once in a lifetime, has got the morbid temptation of emulate the one who represent his model of perfection. For me, it was probably a question of coincidences what led me to believe J.Tull or, to be exact I. Anderson, such an extraordinary artist……..
What do you think about the international Rock scene in the new century ?
It’s really tough to be an original rock musician nowadays. It might have been a lot better in the late ‘60’s. It’s sort of looking for gold in the American rivers today; there’s not quite a lot of it left by the old pioneers.
How did you feel playing with Glen Cornick and Clive Bunker ?
Playing with them was interesting and gratifying.
The childish relish of being the uncanny double of Ian Anderson had reached its peak.
It should sound pretentious but I feel like having coped with the challenge….but I moved immediately forward, avoiding to get stuck with it……I remember the words Clive spoke to me, he said: “But do you play only covers or what ?” and I firmly replied: “Oh no,absolutely not”!!!!Well, to the best of my recollection I wrote my first song when I was thirteen and, since then, I’ve never been lost for material. I turned out stuff quite a lot.

…..ecco che quindi i due brani iniziali presentano un rock a metà strada tra Ozric Tentacles e Doctor and the Medics, tutto in presenza della bella voce roca ma meodica di Jerry………sonorità cosmico/psichedeliche che abbiamo già trovato all’inizio del CD: un brano simbolo di questa perfettamente riuscita fusione è “Sandali rossi n. 37”. In definitiva, un gruppo che dimostra professionalità ed abilità nelle composizioni e negli arrangiamenti…….

……il demo è ugualmente importante perché mette in mostra quello che forse è il miglior gruppo Prog italiano ancora vergine da uscite ufficiali. Pensate ad un incrocio tra Jethro Tull, i primi Pink Floyd, gli Ozric Tentacles ed i Beatles di Abbey Rroad, il tutto molto professionale……….

El tema “Sandali rossi n. 37” aparecerà en breve en un CD recopilatorio hecho por G.Bellachioma, al igual que “Taverna magica” lo harà en la recopilaciòn psicodelica Floralia. En septiembre aparecerà questo primer CD…..El grupo està atavesando un buen momento en cuanto a actuaciones.…….

…..gli OAK, gruppo prog – psichedelico che oltre a proporre brani originali porta usualmente in giro un tributo ai Jethro Tull. Questa volta, però, il tributo è più che giustificato, infatti sul palco salgono Glen Cornick bassista originario dei Tull, Jonsalo Carrera tastierista dei Galadriel, Robert Illes chitarrista inglese, Andrea Ruta session man romano e Jerry Cutillo flautista/ mandolinista/chitarrista/cantante. In date successive si sono aggiunti altri membri dei Tull come Clive Bunker e John Evan………

……ieri sera al Radio Londra c’erano gli OAK…..poi alla fine del concerto (bellissimo, complimenti !!!!!) si è presentato il batterista di Malmesteen tale John Macaluso. Persona splendida e disponibilissima, ha suonato 2 brani con gli OAK…una cosa che ricorderò molto a lungo………

FLORALIA

(CD compilation) autunno 1996
Tre anni or sono, dalla linfa di una quercia secolare nacque un gruppo di folletti musicanti.
Jerry Cutillo, Mauro Gregari e Iacopo Ruggeri come spiriti liberi cominciarono a vagare per gli spazi astrali cantando le gesta di Operatori Ecologici sospesi nel Cosmo.
Cacciati da un mondo incancrenito suonano sogni di tempi antichi dove satiri satolli e tenebrose silfidi si accoppiano in frenetiche danze all’ombra di boschi sacri, evocando forze silvane con magie arcane……..

….lo spettacolo offerto dagli OAK è stato senza dubbio suggestivo: oltre ai suoni e ai ritmi travolgenti, un misto tra rock e musica etnica, i componenti della band si sono esibiti con una coreografia originale, in simbiosi perfetta con le sonorità…….

CURIOSITIES

In september 1997 Iacopo and Jerry were intent to complete the recording of “Sandali rossi” at Misery fox studio. The song had some intense esoteric lyrics and was rich of thrilling sounds.
After the recording of an evil guitar solo they were listening carefully to the result when, unexpectedly, the earth moved. A strong tremor, they knew later, had happened in the region of Umbria.
Still unaware of the thing happened and about the damage caused by the disaster, they thought it was a sign of approval by natural forces regarding the music !!!!!

Having won the rock festival in Finale di Reggio emilia, OAK spent the night in a changing room inside a sporting center granted by the organizational staff. The only advice was: Do not bathe in the swimming pool !!!!! Well, the night dragged by quiet and silent but…. after a good, refreshing bath, with our girlfriends…rigorously naked !!!!!!!

Do you know that, the day after OAK show at Qube in 2003, an ex warrant officer of Carabinieri wrote to Dj Margus denouncing depravity and immorality at the show ? He, worrying about his son’s adulation regarding OAK band, had followed him in secret till the venue remaining upset but, in the end, attracted by the performance of the band.

Do you know that, at the Tull’s convention in 1997, there were 47 degrees on stage ?
During OAK performance Glen, lost in a cloud of smoke shot by an unwise roadie, called for an help having an asthma attack.

Tired about the failures made with many previous bands, Jerry Cutillo, on the eve of the first OAK concert, decided to exorcise the event.
He recorded a tape as a prelude to the show. This, in pure gothic style, was rich of spine-tingling sounds, gruesome musical elements and the wicked request of a long lasting artistic life for OAK.
Well….we actually are on the fourteenth year of band’s activity……

On the day of the OAK interview with Radio rock’s dj’s, back in ’94, i dusted down an old leather uniform belonging to the Germant’s II° world war army.
The over coat, bought already worn-out in a second-hand market, was lying wrecked in my loft. and, when I put it on, suddenly realized that…….it really stank !!!!!
To get round the bad smell, I sprinkled it with the whole content of a patchuli bottle, and Jumped into the car on the way to the radio.
The interview and the acoustic set went very well but, the dj’s comment probably had been:
Brilliant… but…… how much they stink !!!!
